Career Day and AMT

Last Thursday-Saturday (22-24 October) my school, SMP Labschool Jakarta held Career Day on Thursday in School and AMT (Achievement Motivation Training) on Friday til Saturday in Jambu Luwuk Villa, Bogor. The purpose of that occasion is to motivate us (9^th  grader and the Acceleration 2) to study more eagerly and give tips and tricks for us to memorize and understand our school materials.

Day 1:

At 7.30 am my friend and I walked to Teater Kecil and sat on the chairs. Then the seminar started. Before we started we were asked to pray together and say our promises. This routine will be repeated in every sections.  After  that we were given a nametag each that represent our group number. I was in the group 5.

First section: By Mr. SGM

Mr. SGM gave us a really helpful tips. He explained that if we memorize a lot of words, we usually memorize it with our left brain that it is the Short Term Memory. So our memory won’t last long. So we were taught that we should use our right brain that it is the Long Term Memory. To use our Right brain we must imagine and make a story out of the words. Ex: Apple, Moon, Computer, Horse, Pie, House, Plate, Table, Chef, Watermelon. Into..

APPLE flies to the MOON, in the moon there is a COMPUTER, a HORSE and PIE come out from the screen, the pie comes inside a HOUSE, the pie goes through a PLATE that is on top of a TABLE, then there is an angry CHEF that breaks a plate and the scattered poked the WATERMELON. He aslo taught us to make mind maps.

Section 2: Alumni from Labschool

There were 6 alumni, that shared there experience through junior high, high school, career and so on. They also give us tip and trick and shared their career. Their university are Birmingham University, NTU, UI, and ITB. One of them, is still in High School but the reason why she was invited is because she had published a book. But I forgot what kind of book it is ‘-‘.

Section 3: with Dik Doank

He explained that we should be a useful person in the future, responsible, have lots of skills and others.

Day 2:

I arrived school at about 6 am and I walked to school with a backpack and one small hand bag. I was surprised that and with all of the 20 almost everyone use a suitcase or another backpack ._. We got on our bus. We had a 2 hour trip before we arrived in Jambu Luwuk. After we arrived there,we put our belongings in a certain place. Then we had an hour free time, my friends and I went around the villa. And we went to the playground and there was a swing. So me and my friends use the swing for a total 15 to 20 minutes._. Then we went to a hall and we started our first section.

With Bu Aisyah: kekuatan doa

We were taught that to accomplish our target we must pray to God seriously. And then we also must visualized our target like, if want to be a student in UI we should print a paper of us in  UI or just in the us that we UI and see that picture while or after praying. Because our nerves will give signals to our brain and motivated us.

With Pak Aris Ahmad Jaya

I really like this section he taught have mind powers. He explained a lot of things that I can’t explained it back. He also show us a really cool demo about hypnotic and he also gave some student hypnotherapy. Like two students was hypnotized to be really diligent about studying math and another one to study English. It was really cool.

Then we had a break like only a half an hour. To clean up put our belonging and others. At 6.30 after Maghrib prayer we had dinner and then we had another section from Bu Kris and Pak Rosiman. They ask us to write our goals in the future due to visualized our goals and others. After that at 10.30 pm the materials were ended on that day. So it’s time to sleep.

After we went to our villa. I actually wanted to sleep. But then I thought that if I sleep I don’t enjoy my life with my friends so I get up and went around the villa. In the other villa I watched Mr. Maker ‘-‘. Then at 11.30 I went back to my villa and I finally fall asleep at 00.30.

In the morning I woke up at 4.30 and then I went out at 5 am. And then we were gathered to do the Subuh prayer and then we had kultum from our principal and had the last section. In that last section we made our angkatan target for un like the average score for each subjects and the lowest score. Then we had breakfast and free time until 9.30. Some of my friends were splashed to the swimming pool, some just stayed in the villa, some do makeovers, and some do exercises. At 9.30 we all packed back our belongings and then at 10 we took some pictures and at 10.30 we went back to the bus and then went back home.

Overall this Career Day and AMT is great. It gives us experience and it is full of knew knowledge to me.. so it's fun.
